When you're chasing creative gold, time becomes a blur. This is Abhinaya - The drama club of KMIT

Abhinaya isn't just stories, scripts and stage performances. It’s a community bond brought together by their love for movies. Walk into one of their meetings and you’ll hear passionate debates about screenplay logic, impromptu reenactments of iconic scenes, and at least three people quoting Pawan Kalyan or Trivikram. Movie references sneak into the conversations like it's their second language

But what looks fun on the surface is built on some serious behind-the-scenes grind.

Every drama starts with a blank page. A core team of writers brainstorm for hours straight to get those plot twists, punchlines, and everything in between. It’s not uncommon for writing sessions to stretch from dinner to dawn. And it’s not just about being creative—there are ground rules. The script must steer clear of controversial topics and avoid anything offensive. It needs to entertain everyone while still saying something meaningful. And that, honestly, is a monumental task.

Once the story takes shape, casting begins—a process just as thoughtful. The team ensures that roles fit not just the script, but the actors’ personalities too. And even when someone lands a smaller role, no one’s left feeling side-lined.

Rehearsals are intense. From tone and timing to the energy and expression, every little detail is worked on passionately. And even with all that preparation, the biggest challenge still remains : The execution. Costumes, props, dry runs, and tech checks need to go perfectly. One missed dialogue or a mic failure can crumble weeks of effort. But when everything works out? The feeling is ecstatic. The cheers of the crowd, the whistles echoing to the stage, and the unmistakable glow on every team member’s face—this is the moment they live for. Those are the moments that keep members of abhinaya sane from the mind numbing college routine.

Beyond the stage, it’s the bond between the members that gives Abhinaya its heart. Whether it's grabbing lunch together, or dropping random messages in the group chat to chill, the vibe is always wholesome.
